Meet the Coach
My Background
Hello, my name is Josiah Ney. I grew up in a small town on Vancouver Island, Canada. I got into Triathlon at the age of 9 after being inspired by Simon Whitfield's silver medal performance at the Beijing Olympics. I moved to New Zealand at 14 with my family where I finished high school, then went on to attend The University of Waikato. Currently, I'm based in Tasmania and in my spare time you can find me out surfing, mountain biking or occasionally hiking!
Education
I studied a Bachelor of Human Performance Science at Waikato University in New Zealand and was awarded a Hillary Scholarship for achievements in Sport, Academics, and Leadership. My major interest within the degree was injury prevention and biomechanics. During this time, I worked as a Swim Coach, gaining my NZSCTA Teacher of Competitive Swimming Certification. I'm currently studying my Master's of Physiotherapy at the University of Tasmania with an interest in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy.
