Meet the Coach
Meet the Coach
My Background
Hello, my name is Josiah Ney. I grew up in a small town on Vancouver Island, Canada. I got into Triathlon at the age of 9 after being inspired by Simon Whitfield's silver medal performance at the Beijing Olympics. I moved to New Zealand at 14 with my family where I finished high school, then went on to attend The University of Waikato. Currently, I'm based on Vancouver Island and in my spare time you can find me out surfing, mountain biking or occasionally hiking!
Education
I studied a Bachelor of Human Performance Science at Waikato University in New Zealand and was awarded a Hillary Scholarship for achievements in Sport, Academics, and Leadership. My major interest within degree was injury prevention and biomechanics. During this time I worked as a Swim Coach, gaining my NZSCTA Teacher of Competitive Swimming Certification.
Current Sporting Goals
As an athlete myself I'm still competing! I'm currently making the move from Short Course racing and the Olympic pathway to Long Course racing. This year I'll be racing both Short Course and 70.3 Ironman with the aim of achieving my first Long Distance professional podium.
